Our winemaker, Mark Wasserman, grew up watching his grandfather, Papa Joe, craft wine in his basement in Ontario, California. Friends and family would gather often to enjoy Papa Joe's creations. It was only fitting that later in life Mark would set out to honor his grandfather's legacy by choosing to do the same, but with quality fruit from premium select vineyards throughout California.
He believes that wine is made in the vineyard, and by not limiting himself to a single estate vineyard he gives himself the opportunity to source fruit with the best varietal characteristics, from Paso Robles to Santa Lucia Highlands appellations.
Rather than forcing a set style of wine, he lets the vineyards express their fruit forward flavors and attributes. By not over-extracting or over powering the wines in the cellar, he is pleased to offer wines with bold fruit, complexity, and
delightfully balanced tannins.
